Landing page or business website: which fits your business?

A landing page is a single page built around one offer and one action: requesting a quote, booking or signing up. A business website presents your work across several pages: services, past projects, an about page and contact details. The choice depends on what you need to present: an offer that visitors reach through a specific link fits on a landing page, whereas several services to explain or several Google searches to cover call for a business website.

What is a landing page, and what is a business website?

The Google Ads glossary defines a landing page as the webpage where people end up after they click an ad; it is usually the same as the ad’s final URL. In this article, I use “landing page” for any single page that receives visitors from a campaign, an email or a shared link and leads them to one action.

A business website brings several pages together: services, the person doing the work, past projects, contact details and legal information. At Eljadi WORKS, a landing page is one sales page in one language. A business website has up to 7 presentation pages in one language, with approved legal texts added.

What is the difference between a landing page and a website?

The table compares the two formats as I offer them on 5 October 2026.

In Google, a landing page and a business website differ in the number of titles they present. Google Search Central recommends giving each page distinct title text that describes its content, and thinking about the words your readers might search for to find each piece of content. A landing page therefore appears under one title, while a business website can give each service its own page and title.

I offer the landing page for CHF 499 and the business website for CHF 995 as a launch offer for the first clients, instead of CHF 900 and CHF 2,500 at the standard price. In both formats, the domain, third-party services, translations and photography are charged separately.

Is a landing page enough?

One page is enough to present an offer, support a campaign or launch your business. Visitors then arrive through a specific link: an ad, an email, a QR code on a flyer. For a Google Ads ad, it is the page you enter as the final URL. The whole page serves one decision, with a form or a button.

It is less suitable in these cases:

  • you offer several services, each with its own clients and questions;
  • you want to appear in several different Google searches;
  • your visitors need separate pages for your background, past projects or legal information;
  • your clients expect two languages: translation is charged separately in both formats;
  • you sell online: neither format automatically includes a shop.

When do you need a multi-page website?

Several pages become useful when your business meets several needs: one service per page, with its own title, examples and conditions. They also help with local searches, which the Geneva local SEO checklist covers. If some of your clients read English and others French, the article on a bilingual French-English website helps you decide on a second language. An about page also shows who will do the work.

On my own website, eljadiworks.com, each of the following searches showed the page that covers its topic. According to Search Console, from 7 July to 4 October 2026 (collected on 5 October), French searches such as “prix site internet suisse” (website price Switzerland) showed the pricing page, and “bilingual business website” showed the English article on bilingual websites.

These volumes are small: 1,926 impressions and 6 clicks for the whole site over that period, with no clicks on the searches quoted. Google hides rare searches: only 369 impressions came from visible searches, 236 of them for the French article on choosing between a freelancer and an agency.

A multi-page website also needs more content from you: copy for each service, photos, past projects, and keeping them up to date. If your business comes down to one offer, a landing page is simpler to prepare and maintain. The scope and support of the custom business website are described on its page.

Can a landing page grow into a full website?

A landing page can become the home page of the future website or one of its service pages. If its address stays the same, links already shared keep working. If it changes, Google recommends a permanent server-side redirect, with a 301 or 308 status code, so that people and Google Search reach the new page. The article on redesigning a website helps you prepare that change.

Code and access are handed over after full payment, with notes for taking the project over. You can add pages with me or with another developer, on compatible hosting. To decide who will develop the site further, see the criteria for choosing between a freelancer and an agency. The technical base also matters for future pages: the article comparing WordPress and a custom website helps you choose it.
